Date : Sunday, May 18, 2008 Time : 9:23 pm i have consulted my heart. and made room for a good many other considerations. and, dare i say it, i have a come to a decision. ....i think? :/ had evaluation/assessment for driving. basically it's like this mock test thing, where the instructor simulates the exam environment and assesses your performance according to this checklist that the examiners use. so how do you fail your prac? 1) make a fatal mistake (immediate failure) like beating a red light or 2) get 20 demerit points in total. as for today, i made this huge mistake of stopping on the pedestrian crossing (stupid green arrow misled me) and had 10 points chopped off immediately. in total i bade goodbye to 18 points, precariously close to failing but still passed HAHAH so there. i promise to do better the next time. :) next lesson, auto car. should be a refreshing experience heh. :P vertical and parallel parking are fun. i hope i clear them bea-u-tifully on that day. elyssa you too! :D witnessing elson my darling nephew (the younger of the two emperors in the house) in his piano-learning journey affirms my belief that music can never be forced onto anyone. tireless coaxing and encouragement on his mother's (who has always believed in sparing the rod) part have produced disappointing results. that little tyrant spends most of his time in my house (the only one with a piano among our close relatives) playing and getting distracted by his brother's game of chess with me, the starfish soft toy on my bed, the snacks on the dining cart or adults' conversations, everything but music itself. play, it seems, is everything in a child's world. his constant refrain of "but i dont like piano... i dont want to learn piano...!" may be a source of regret for his mother (my aunt) but i think, why force it? looking at him, i doubt arpeggios, broken chords, semi-quavers, key signatures and doh-reh-mis will ever register as a lasting fond memory in him, as it does in me. from treats to threats, we've tried everything. i wonder how long his mother can take before she realises that maybe this just isnt his thing. then again, kids are so unpredictable, you never know. anyway, on to another topic. it hasnt been that busy a week. but i've made a few mistakes too many. it's not so much the workload, cos that depends on which day of the week it is, and i admit i've got my carefree days too. rather, it's the nature of the work per se and certain people around that makes this place increasingly aversive to me. june 21. remember my last. and dont even try talking me out of it.
